Sustainability is defined as a means, systems, and material that will not deplete resources or harm the natural cycle. Hence, sustainable products are products that minimize the impact on the environment at every phase of the life cycle. That impact is characterized by ten factors including ecotoxicity, human carcinogens and respiratory impact, among others. It is common that a redesign would lead to marked improvement in some factors and a significant deterioration of others. The purpose of this survey is to ascertain the importance of these ten factors relative to each other.
Dear Respondent, I am a graduate student of University of Detroit Mercy, currently working on my Master thesis on sustainable products using the Sustainable Mind software to measure the ecological and human impact of products.
